51 - Are You Self Sabotaging Your Success

Season #1 Episode #51

Behavior is said to be self-sabotaging when it creates problems and interferes with long-standing goals. The most common self-sabotaging behaviors are procrastination, self-medication with drugs or alcohol, comfort eating, and forms of self-injury such as cutting. The Act of destroying or damaging something deliberately so that it does not work correctly  Self Sabotage, what I believe is a response to an feeling or emotion that has become habitual when left unchecked which then becomes an un-conscious behaviour that becomes a problem. This is why we come to believe that it is out of our control. That we "don't know" why its happening and we cannot change it. There is always a reason behind all action. There is always a purpose or a pay off. Self Sabotage is also a form or buffering like over spending , over eating, drinking, spend excess time on socials or dating apps and taking drugs. Using language like, "I don't feel like it" or "I don't know" because we are not willing to actually look at what is causing the reaction What emotion are you trying to avoid? And are you willing to experience short term discomfort for long term success? We need to learn to experience and accept all the emotion, whether it be negative or positive, as this is the human experience.   We first must decide that it is something that we want to change, and be willing to look at the emotion/feeling that is causing it and then choose to accept the emotion so we can choose to override it to create the success we're looking for.
